LIFE4EPR is a European-funded project committed to unlocking the full potential of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) across the EU.
At the heart of the project is the design and testing of a pilot European EPR register — a digital platform aimed at exploring the feasibility of a more coordinated, transparent, and efficient system. This pilot will address key governance, technical, and financial aspects, laying the groundwork for a future EU-wide implementation.
To support this objective, LIFE4EPR will first deliver a comprehensive mapping of how EPR schemes currently function across different Member States. This analysis will help identify strengths, persistent challenges, and critical gaps in data and enforcement, providing essential insights to inform the development of the register and highlight areas where harmonisation can bring added value.
Finally, the project will place strong emphasis on communication and engagement, raising awareness among producers, citizens, and key stakeholders about their roles and responsibilities within the EPR framework — and fostering a shared culture of accountability and circular thinking throughout Europe.
