Building a Simpler Future for EPR Compliance

Building a Simpler Future for EPR Compliance

The LIFE4EPR project is working towards a more harmonised and interoperable European approach to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registration and reporting.

Through a series of co-creation workshops involving national authorities, Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs), producers, authorised representatives, marketplaces and other stakeholders, the project identified key barriers and explored possible  way to address the fragmentation of current EPR registration and reporting systems.

The discussions confirmed that the current fragmented landscape creates significant challenges, particularly for companies operating across several Member States. Different registration procedures, reporting formats, languages and classification systems can make compliance unnecessarily complex and resource intensive.

Rather than proposing a complete overhaul of existing systems, LIFE4EPR explores potential pathways to  facilitate EPR compliance and improve interoperability across EPR registration and reporting practices, while preserving national responsibilities and existing governance structures.
