Introducing the EU-LIFE4EPR Registration and Reporting Gateway
One of the main outcomes of the project is the concept of the EU-LIFE4EPR Registration and Reporting Gateway (RRG).
The Gateway is a digital platform designed to facilitate harmonised producer registration and reporting across Member States, but it is not intended to become a central European register. Instead, it acts as an interface connecting existing national systems while maintaining the legal role of National Registers and preserving the responsibilities of PROs and Authorised Representatives (ARs).
The proposed platform would:
- provide a single-entry point for registration and reporting across different EPR streams and Member States;
- introduce harmonised data structures to facilitate data consistency and interoperability;
- establish a shared EU data repository with controlled access for designated stakeholders;
- support producers in identifying and contacting relevant compliance organisations such as PROs and ARs;
- enable a hybrid reporting approach, allowing producers to choose between existing national reporting routes and a harmonised EU reporting route:
- support enforcement activities, including efforts to address free-riding.
By building on existing national structures rather than replacing them, the Gateway offers a potential pathway towards greater interoperability across Europe.
